I have known ever since I was a child growing up on the shores of Lake Superior in Upper Michigan that I would work with my hands.  The decision was solidified when I took my first metals class at Northern Michigan University in...well let's just say it's been a few years.  It has been my passion ever since.  The journey has taken me to Vail, Colorado, where I worked as a goldsmith for 15 years.  It has also taken me to Fort Collins, Colorado, where I spent 14 years.  During this time, I earned my MFA at Colorado State University, which enabled me to teach metalsmithing and jewelry design classes at the college level, which I did until 2012 when I relocated back to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.  I miss teaching and all of my students, but also love being back in the remote part of the country that I was raised in, and which has always been the major influence on my work.  Flying Anvil Designs was formally launched in 1998 and in 2008 my husband joined the business full time. Since then we have been working together, traveling to shows, and enjoying life in our beautiful part of the country as much as our busy schedule allows.
Enjoy the photos of some of the newer work and we hope to see you at a show in the near future.
